Document Authentication Service
The Chinese Embassy and Consulates authenticate documents that are executed in the United States and will be used in China. Types of documents include: birth/death certificates, power of attorney, marriage certificates, diplomas, adoption papers, Single Status Affidavit, business licenses, etc. Document authentication is also called legalization or certification. It is a multi-level, multi-step process to get authenticated documents. Read the steps of the document authentication process below to learn how to take advantage of our convenient document authentication services.
Personal Document
1. Get the document notarized by a local notary public or obtain a certified copy from the competent
authorities.
2. Send the document to the Secretary of the State in which the document is notarized for authentication.
3. Apply for authentication at the Chinese Consulate General of the consular district where the document is certified. The Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco cover can only authenticate documents issued in these states/regions: Northern California, Alaska, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.
Please bring the following material to our office:

A completed Application Form of Notarization

A copy of the applicant’s passport first page

A state-issued ID card.

Business Documents
company power of attorney, certification of company officer’s identification, company representative appointment confirmation, company meeting minute, commercial agreement, bank statement etc.
